Cold Case general stuff (5)
Here's what they are saying at CBS :
-
COLD CASE is a drama about Lilly Rush (Kathryn Morris), a dedicated female detective in the Philadelphia homicide squad, who finds her niche when she's assigned to "cold cases"--crimes that have never been solved. Previously, she used her instinctive understanding of the criminal mind on current murders. Now, she's interrogating witnesses whose lives and circumstances have since changed, making use of today's new science and finding fresh clues to solve cases that were previously unsolvable--all of which appeals to this smart, driven detective. She's also prepared for the consequences--that her work will open up old wounds and may lead suspects to commit new crimes. Rush sees her new assignment as a turning point in her career, when she decides to make it her business to make sure that no victim is ever forgotten.
However, somewhere during season 3, the show lost its focus on Lilly Rush and the investigations are conducted by the whole squad.
Still from the CBS website :
-
When she hits a dead end, Rush seeks advice from her respected mentor, Lt. John Stillman (John Finn). Also on the team are Det. Scotty Valens (Danny Pino), Rush's confident and strong-willed partner; Det. Will Jeffries (Thom Barry), who's been around long enough to serve as Lilly's link to the past, Det. Nick Vera (Jeremy Ratchford), a tough cop who's considered the go-to guy for getting a confession and Kat Miller (Tracie Thoms), the new girl on the team who is eager to prove her worthiness.
And still not very up to date... because it's been a long time since Kat Miller has proven her worthiness.
The show has been created by Meredith Stiehm.
Executive producers are Meredith Stiehm, Jerry Bruckheimer and Jonathan Littman.
The showrunner is currently writer Veena Cabreros Sud.
Yep, I'm upset too. That's the big issue with Cold Case, there are not DVD at all, because of the music rights that would be too expensive.

Though question ....
Since many pages agregate contents of episodes from all seasons, you are unfortunately bound to be spoiled.
Anyhow, it's safer to just remain on the pages of the episodes you have seen.
I agree, the show is so much more than its formula...
The figures and statistics are just a fun way (at least for me) to display the information of an episode.
It is hosted at a French provider : OVH

Let's have a little flashback here :
October 2007 :
Started watching season 1 (love at first sight)
November 2007 :
Discovered the CMS Drupal
Started watching season 5 like in the US
December 2007 :
Ended season 2 with a brilliant idea : how to mix pleasure and work by self teaching Drupal on a cold case website ?
Made the tutorial and set up the draft Drupal website on my laptop (3 to 4 days)
January to July 2008 :
Still watching season 5 like in the US, while going in parallel though season 3 and 4
Filled the database on episodes (1 hour to watch one episode, due to the pauses for screen capture, and then roughly 1 hour to resize the picture and enter the datas -- 10 minutes when filling only victim + culprit)
June 2008 :
Developed the "front" of the Drupal website (5 days)
July 15th, 2008 :
The site is launched in bêta, Yay !!!
So, it is indeed a lot of work but over the course 6-7 months, it's not that time consumming. I deliberately chose to watch all the CC episodes in a slow pace in order to feel some sense of time passing and properly digest everything.
This is a Drupal Theme "Sky" that has endured a severe face-lift.
Yeah, I know it's not really sexy, but it's at least clear and simple and I am not a web designer, at all.
If it is really annoying, you can always contribute and send me your theme.
For the most part, it comes directly from me, watching the show, taking notes and screencapturing every 3 seconds.
The other stuff comes from :
-
- www.imdb.com (cast and crew info)
- www.tvtome.com (summary and ratings)
- www.tvsubtitles.net (scenes)
- www.coldcase.net (music info)
All screen captures have been made by me. The quality is poor but the site does not aim at providing galleries for episodes as one can find good screencaps on many other fansites.
Well, thanks for reporting it in a very detailed fashion through the contact form.
It will be fixed as soon as possible.
As for the classification (murder type and motive especially), I totally acknowledge the fact that it is subjective. Feel free to tell me when I am wrong or not right enough.
I am using the wonderful Drupal. I discovered it in 2007 and totally wanted to try it for this website. I think it's very powerful but I would recommend it only to CMS experienced people.
I just hope the site won't have performance issues as it seems to be its main drawback.
A CMS is a Content Management System, used to manage your website.
It usually provides many functionalities so you just have to click-click here and there and write your text, without worrying about HTML, CSS, PHP programming, MYSQL databases or other barbaric terms for non geeks.
So the main point is, that makes you, the non geek, a possible contributor to this website. Yay !
You can reach me via the "contact" page.
For the moment, I have not set up any specific workflows or roles but it will be up to how many people wants to contribute.
I am looking for people willing to:
-
- correct my terrible English
- fill up all the episodes
- add scenes
- add whatever data/content that sound interesting
